Coming Soon: Goheen Airport!

The Fly Washington Passport Program is lining up a new participating airport! The stamp is not yet in place, so it's not "official" on the list of airports required for a patch or a jacket...yet. But, heads up that this lovely little airport will be joining the Passport Program soon!

Goheen Airport (W52), roughly three miles north of Battle Ground, WA features 2565' x 50' turf runways 15/33. The Passport Program stamp location will be posted under the Goheen pin in the online map just as soon as the stamp is placed. The airport is in the Southwest Region. (For those concerned that adding new airports creates a moving target, we anticipate Goheen will be the last new airport for awhile.) Goheen, we're excited to get you on board!

Fly Washington Passport Program enthusiasts can view an interactive map with pins showing the location and region of all participating airports. Click on any pin to get details on the placement of each stamp. You can also download the latest list of participating airports here or from our website. Happy stamp collecting!

Airport Stamp Status Updates

As of early June, a couple of stamps are missing:
  • Tieton State (4S6), South Central Region: stamp is missing and slated for replacement.
  • Copalis State (S16), Olympic Region: stamp and logbook are missing. Due to repeated theft and vandalism, the stamp will not be replaced onsite. Although this is a bonus airport (stamp not required for jacket), you can still get the stamp! Take a photo of yourself at S16 showing your passport and the date, include that photo when you submit your passport for validation at Auburn Municipal Airport, and the Copalis stamp will be added to your Passport Booklet.

Jacket Winner Spotlight!

Fly Washington has handed out over 8,000 passport booklets to date, which means there are a LOT of pilots out there collecting stamps! Participation is good for General Aviation, aviation-related businesses, and local businesses that benefit from additional tourism dollars. Participating pilots are also building and maintaining important skills while earning patches and working toward flight jackets.

The first participants to earn Fly Washington Passport Program jackets did so in 2019, and there have been dozens since. See the Jacket Winners list, photos, and a few trip tales on the Fly Washington Achievements page. Here are a few recent success stories:
Meet Ariel, Joel and Devin, aka the Stamp Squadron! The trio earned their flight jackets in September 2022, and collected most of their stamps as a flight of two with an R44 helicopter and a Lake Amphibian based out of Renton and Auburn. Apex and Colville hit the top of the list as their favorite airports, while the most memorable trip was a sunset flight in North Central and landing the helicopter in a hotel parking lot. The most unexpected leg involved Olympic Peninsula airports in a heat wave. "The town of Forks was pretty much closed, so hot! Torture – the helicopter had an inside temp of 118 degrees."

The trio claims the highlight of the program was seeing every part of the state together as friends, exploring places they never would have been. "Some BEAUTIFUL airports in the state!" and the Passport Program gave them a renewed appreciate for the beauty of Washington.
Richard Edgerton

Richard is no stranger to collecting passport stamps, and in May he earned his THIRD Fly Wasington Passport Program flight jacket! Richard notes: "I very much enjoy being an ambassador for the Fly Washington Passport Program! I pitch it to every pilot I meet and often 'prime the pump' by giving them a passport book along with a flight to get their first stamp. Great fun and wonderfully rewarding for both me and the other pilots!"

Richard is also a Fly Washington Passport Program sponsor. Thank you, Richard! As a Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor, he also maintains a webpage of valuable aviation-related links and resources.
As of last fall there are 112 participating airports and seaplane bases, plus a bonus airport!
Collecting 101 stamps (90% of participating airports)
earns you a flight jacket!

This program would not be possible without their generous donations.
Please give them your business and thank them for their support. Fly safe!
