June 2024 Passport Program Update

New Participating Airports?!

We are always on the lookout for ways to support our GA airports and surrounding communities, and bringing interested airports into the Fly Washington Passport Program is one of the best ways we know to send aviators their way. But then we get a few good-natured but frantic emails from participants about having just completed a region, only to find out there is now a new participating airport in that region.

We get it! We are pilots too, and that 90% completion requirement can feel like a moving target!

So here's an update: As soon as a stamp is placed at a new airport, we add it to the interactive map, and to the list of participating airports with a mark indicating it is new on the list. Participants can collect the stamp at any time from then on. However, that stamp won't be required for that regional patch or the program completion threshold until the following calendar year. Furthermore, if your passport booklet has been validated for that region before we add that location to the Participating Airports list, you are not required to have it at all--you will have already been recorded as completing that region!

To recap: any new participating airport stamp will not be required for program completion until the following calendar year. This gives aviators some advance warning when new participating airports are coming online, and allows us to add some fun new destinations as opportunities arise. We expect new additions to be rare, but want to keep the option open.

We hope this keeps it fair to everyone. Fly safe and have fun!

Vashon Municipal (2S1) has a stamp!

Vashon Airport, Northwest Region: The Passport Program mailbox with the Vashon stamp is mid-field on the east side of the runway, mounted on a kiosk next to the outhouse.

STAMP REPORT

0S9 Jefferson County - stamp needs re-inking
W04 Ocean Shores Municipal - stamp has been replaced
S20 Goldendale Municipal - stamp has been replaced

If a stamp is dry or missing when you arrive, simply take a picture of you with your passport at that location, note the date, and include it in your Passport Booklet.

Also, please let us know so we can get it fixed! We rely on volunteers to get replacement stamps back in service. To advise us of a missing stamp, or if you want to help with getting a new stamp back to its airport, drop us an email. Thanks
